At the end of this course, the students will:
The course will provide an overview of the physical, technical and societal bases of radio and television broadcasting and relate the laws of nature that make broadcasting possible, as well as the scientists who exploited them; describes the individual items or equipment used in radio and television and surveys the diverse environment of broadcasting stations and networks. It shall also
survey the evolution of film as a distinct medium of communication and as an art form; notable creative pioneers of the art form and their contributions; relationship of film to other media. It also examines film as a medium of communication and the cinema as a communication setting with particular reference to literature and its various forms – the short story, novel, poem and drama; overview of the kinds of film – documentary (non-fiction), and avant-garde
– the role of the cinema in urban and rural communities.
