Biography

Dr Zauro is currently the Technical Adviser to the President on Economic and Financial inclusion in the Office of the Vice President. He is also the Executive Secretary and Head of Secretariate of the Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion (PreCEFI) for Nigeria. Dr. Zauro also served as a Technical Advisor on Digital Financial Inclusion in the Central Bank of Nigeria in 2017 to 2020. He was a member of the CBN’s Commodity Development Initiative under the Anchor Borrower Programme that impacted on the Nigerian food security. He was also a member of the CBN Team on the implementation of the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) and more. He was involved in providing technical inputs into the monitory policy decisions of the CBN and developing government interventions in high impact areas of the economy in line with the Government’s policy directions. Dr Zauro was also Director Finance/ Treasurer of the CBN Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society.

 

He convened the high-level policy dialogue with market players, regulators and law enforcement agencies in Washington DC, Development Partners Roundtable and #ShesIncluded (gender inclusion) movement in Nigeria. He also attracted the foreign direct investment of $2.11 billion for Nigeria for the operationalization of the Aso Accord in 2025.

He obtained a PhD in Accounting in University, Utara Malaysia, Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Usman Danfodiyo University Sokoto and a BSc Accounting at Bayero University Kano (BUK). He is a Fellow (FCCA) of the Association of Charted Certified Accountants (ACCA) in UK, Fellow (FICA) of the Nigeria Institute of Credit Administration, a member (ACA) of the Institute if Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Management Chartered (NIM).

 

He has attended several courses locally and internationally including Finance in the Digital Era at the Word Bank Group in Washington DC, Basel 2&3 by MIT and Paris in France, Islamic Finance by Islamic Development Bank in Pakistan and Malaysia, Global Cooperative Alliance in India and many more.

He has over the time demonstrated: technical competence, good leadership, and communication skills, monitoring and evaluation and mentorship for aspiring finance leaders. He published and reviewed several books, policy papers, articles in high impact journals and attended/presented at local and international conferences, retreats and symposia. He is happily married with 5 kids.
