1. BACKGROUND
Rayhaan University Birnin Kebbi (RUBK) is a newly established private University in Nigeria, officially licensed in 2023. Located in Birnin Kebbi, the capital of Kebbi State, the University is dedicated to delivering high-quality teaching, learning, and research. The Proprietor of the University aims to provide access to quality university education for both Nigerians and international students.
RUBK operates as a conventional University and is well-equipped with the resources necessary to impart 21st-century knowledge, skills, and business acumen. This preparation positions its graduates to be innovative and significantly beneficial to their communities and humanity at large.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant position of University Librarian. Interested candidates who meet requisite qualifications and cognate experience as specified below are hereby invited to apply.
2. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
i. The candidate must possess a PhD in Library and Information Sciences or related area from a recognized university;
ii. The candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science from a recognized university;
iii. The candidate should have at least, a minimum of 15 years of relevant post qualification working experience in Librarianship among which 10 years must be from a university or similar institutions;
iv. The Candidate must be a serving officer and not above the age of sixty (60) at the assumption of office;
v. The candidate must demonstrate good human relations and exhibit considerable ability and competence in Library Management generally and modern Librarianship in particular
vi. The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of key trends in library science, including the ability to evaluate emerging technologies;
vii. Must be Computer Literate and proficient in relevant Computer applications as applicable in the running of an Automated University Library;
viii. Must be a registered member of relevant professional associations/bodies such as: (a) Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria, and (b) Nigerian Library Association;
ix. The candidate must show a proven record of research, publications and conference attendance;
x. The candidate should also be endowed, among others with the following qualities: (a) strong leadership and spirit of teamwork (b) strong analytical and organizational skills (c) honesty, transparency and integrity, (d) good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills;
xi. The candidate should have the ability and willingness to work, manage and supervise library operations on a daily basis; and
xii. Must be willing to relocate to Birnin Kebbi for the full-time job
3. DUTIES
The University Librarian is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the effective development, leadership, day-to-day management of all Library Services and learning spaces in the University. He will oversee collection, acquisition and development, budgeting, staff, fundraising, partnerships, library services, physical and virtual space, and strategic planning of Rayhaan University Library.
4. CONDITION OF SERVICE
The appointment is for a single tenure of five (5) years in the first instance and on satisfactory performance, the person may have his/her tenure extended for a further period of one (1) year and no more. Salary and other benefits shall be as approved by the Governing Council of the Rayhaan University Birnin Kebbi.
