Sharafa Dauda, PhD is the Acting Head, Department of Mass Communication, Rayhaan University and Senior Lecturer on Sabbatical from the University of Maiduguri (Unimaid), with 15 years’ experience. He holds PhD (Online Journalism) and Masters of Arts (Communication Studies) degrees from the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), and a B.A. degree (Mass Communication) from Unimaid. He had a stint in journalism practice with the Daily Trust newspaper and has expertise in Curriculum Development (Academic and Professional); Media, Development and Educational Consultancy; and Tertiary Education Teaching, Training, Research, and Mentorship. He has 32 peer-reviewed and 3 co-edited publications and other works under review; and several conference attendances and proceedings. Some of his published researches are indexed on ORCID, Mendeley, SCOPUS, Publons and Google Scholar. He possesses skills in research and documentation; data analysis and synthesis; report and analytical writing; document review, and the capacity to work in a multicultural environment. He has supervised three Master’s students research (journalism and conflict and social media influence); and is currently supervising two Master’s and one PhD candidates (digital literacy and communication-peace building), alongside several undergraduate students’ supervision. He is a SUSI Scholar with the Cronkite School at Arizona State University (ASU) in the United States; a USM Fellow and the Best Undergraduate Student (2008) at the Department of Mass Communication, Unimaid. He holds certifications in Data Quality Management (2023) and Computer Networking, Software, and Hardware Maintenance (2004), and is a member of communication and journalism professional associations and media and information literacy coalition in Nigeria.
